Communicative Approach And The Teaching Of Speaking Skill

Communicative Approach is based on the idea that learning language successfully comes through having to communicate real meaning. When learners are involved in real communication, their natural strategies for language acquisition will be used, and this will allow them to learn to use the language. The aim of communicative approach is communicative competence.

This book focuses on the effectiveness of using communicative approach in the learning of English Language specifically in the teaching of speaking skill via a module developed by the authors. The DRA (Diagnose, Run and Assess) Module consists of activities and strategies with communicative approach principles and characteristics to aid the instructors and students to enhance their speaking skill. To date, Communicative Approach is still practical and relevant to be used as the learning approach in Malaysian English classes and further enhance the English language communication and speaking skill amongst the community members.
