Job Description

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities(A) PRODUCT RESEARCH

  • To coach and guide engineer in product research focusing in air filtration equipment
  • To lead research team on product research project in air filtration equipment
  • To propose and research into new product and technology
  • To design and develop new product on a timely manner
  • To ensure new product meet/exceed customer requirement
  • To perform evaluation and testing to ensure criteria are met
  • To propose investment needed for new product development
  • To ensure manufacturability of the new product


  • To coach and guide engineer in product technical support in air filtration equipment
  • To provide technical support, including test report and drawing, to relevant department
  • To convey technical information on customer requirement from sales to production
  • To carry out the application of FM/UL standard on new material
  • To qualify new raw material
  • To provide support in part number and BOM creation 
  • To provide technical support on new product testing
  • To provide technical support on material procurement


  • To perform other tasks that contributes to the smooth daily operation as be referred to    memo or letters.
  • To perform all administration and additional jobs assigned by the superior or Management (or any official letter being issued to you and keep in your personal file).
  • Support company certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO14001 and work actively with improving those areas.
  • To be responsible for maintaining good housekeeping 5S, proper teamwork and coordination between all other department in achieving the compliance the company’s Quality, Environmental & Occupational, Health & Safety Management System


  • Update /create product drawing
  • Approve new raw material
  • Request/ Create Part number and BOM in SAP system
  • Approve test report carried out in lab / test duct

Reporting To

  • Manager, R&D

Working Experience

  • Experience in Air Filtration Equipment
  • Experience in AHU or HVAC
  • Experience in metal design and fabrication

Skill & Knowledge

  • PC Skills : Autocad, Solidworks, Inventor, Basic Windows, Excel and Words
  • Word Processor : Create form, documents and drawings
  • E-Mail : Create, send and retrieve messages
  • Testing equipment
  • Equipment and metal parts design


  • Innovative, Initiative, independent
  • Communicate well with all levels
  • Problem solving and decision making
  • Good knowledge in work study and manufacturing standards

Education / Competencies

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, any field.

  • Identify, propose and manage industry leading innovation and breakthrough research both internally and externally with reputed research bodies and universities with proven track records.
  • Plan and conduct research, propose experiments and analyse data to test hypotheses to enhance understanding of products and processes and to provide inventive solutions toward new development efforts.
  • Apply sophisticated scientific or engineering understanding to research or development problems, ideas or projects.
  • Create and protect intellectual property for the company. Work with legal advisors / authorities in IP investigation and generating activities.
  • Incorporate the developed technology into the process and/or product and work with R&D Managers in scaling up and commercialisation.
  • Collaborate effectively with R&D team and function in supply chain throughout product development cycle.
  • Keep abreast and continue to assess new technology potential by attending conferences & seminars, reviewing research publications, technical literature, patents, market research papers and suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain exceptional working relationships with external industry stakeholders, research bodies, academic and professional institutions and suppliers.
  • Communicate research results to stakeholders through reports and presentations.


  • Candidate must possess at least a Master’s Degree/ Doctorate (PhD) in Chemistry and Polymer Science.
  • At least 2 years working experience in R&D, preferably from chemical industries
  • Creative thinking, Innovative and Inquisitive mind
  • Ability to visualise linkages and connectivity in issues and solutions
  • Strong research, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills
  • Excellent new product development skill
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Good planning and organizing skills
  • Able to use DOE and other established and benchmark R&D Methodologies
  • Able to deliver innovative solutions to customer needs (internal and external)
  • Able to work both independently and direct research with guidance from superior.
